2023 Medical Mission: Banica Day 1

Welcome to the 2023 Medical  Missionaries Banica trip blog

On Friday, January 27th most of us met at the Delta checkin counter at Dulles Airport at 4am.  One of the team members had left the day before, and the other was leaving at the same time via United.

We arrived at Santo Domingo, DR airport around 1.30pm.  We got off to a bit of a rocky start at the airport. Some in the group were stopped by immigration and had their bags searched. Fortunately, we were able to clear through the bureaucratic snafu and move on a few hours later without losing any of the medication or supplies.

The medication story probably needs a little background.  Over the last two months we have been collecting and purchasing medicines for the clinics that are being held during this trip.   We are deeply grateful to those that purchased or donated medicines for our medical mission.  Medicines and supplies that are not used will remain in country or given to St. Joseph Clinic.

Follow all of our volunteers through their week of clinics in the Dominican Republic.
