St. Joseph Clinic, Thomassique: Focus on Nurse Philogene Ponise
At St. Joseph Clinic in Thomassique, one name stands out for her unwavering dedication and exceptional skill: Nurse Philogene Ponise. A true pillar of the clinic, Philogene has been a crucial part of the team since July 2012.
Originally from Lospalis, Philogene grew up in a large family with five brothers and four sisters. After completing her primary schooling locally and her secondary education at Lycée Hinche, she pursued her passion for healthcare, attending nursing school in Port-au-Prince. Today, she makes the daily commute from her home in Hinche to serve the community, supported by her husband, Belzy Philippe, and their two children, Thamia and Karl.
Philogene’s expertise is evident in her work, particularly her time in the emergency department, where she also takes on night shifts. She is highly regarded by her colleagues and has worked closely with Dr. Donald and Dr Franck. Her skills are especially critical during cholera outbreaks. Known for her common sense approach and compassionate communication with patients, Philogene has an incredible track record, successfully saving 95% of the cholera cases she treats.
Her outstanding contributions and compassionate care were formally recognized in 2023 when she was awarded the Plaque of Honor for being the clinic’s best employee of the year. We are incredibly fortunate to have Nurse Philogene Ponise on our team, and we celebrate her as a shining example of the dedication and heart that drives our clinic’s mission.

Supplies and Equipment In and Out
Supplies on the Way to Nigeria: Once again, our dedicated volunteers and packers gathered on a hot summer morning at our Balls Ford warehouse to load a container with medical supplies and equipment. The shipment, collected by Medical Missionaries, is now on its way to Nigeria, West Africa.
This project would not be possible without the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of everyone who travels to our Manassas office to donate. Thank you for making a difference!
