Celebrating the Heart of Service: Happy National Volunteer Week!
We would like to take a moment to honor the incredible individuals who make Medical Missionaries projects possible. This year’s theme, “Celebrate Service!” shines a light on the dedication and compassion of our volunteers, from the youngest to the eldest, who serve locally, regionally, and globally.
Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization, and we’re grateful for their tireless efforts. The tasks our volunteers perform are crucial to our mission. Whether seasoned volunteers or just starting out, their time and talents make a real difference.
Some of the ways our volunteers serve include:
- Collecting and delivering food and essential items to those in need
- Loading and unloading medical equipment and supplies
- Providing office support and administrative assistance
- Writing and sharing stories to spread the word about our mission
- Shopping for clothing and gifts for our annual Grundy Holiday Drive
The benefits of volunteering are numerous, from learning new skills to improving mental and physical health. At Medical Missionaries, we’re proud to offer opportunities for individuals to make a difference and gain a sense of purpose.
You can be a force to transform the world! Whether you have a few hours a month or a few days a week, your power to make a difference is real. Join us in celebrating the spirit of service and consider how you can use your time and talents to serve others.
Below are just a few of the many awesome volunteers that help Medical Missionaries.
World Health Day 2025: Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Future
The World Health Organization’s World Health Day 2025 theme, “Healthy beginnings, hopeful future,” shines a spotlight on reducing preventable maternal and newborn health outcomes. At Medical Missionaries, we’re proud to be part of this mission through our work at St. Joseph Clinic in Thomassique, Haiti.
The midwives and Matwons that we support in Haiti, provide crucial assistance to expectant mothers and newborns. Additionally, our Medika Mamba nutritional support program gives at-risk infants a fighting chance to thrive. By partnering with dedicated doctors, nurses, volunteers, and organizations, we’re working together to increase the chances of healthy births and thriving infants.
Ukraine Updates
Medical Missionaries has supported the Traveling Colonels’ mission of getting medical supplies to support Ukraine military and civilian population. Every few weeks Colonel Monte visits our office in Manassas and receives many needed supplies.
We have set up a page on our website where we post messages from the Traveling Colonels front line activities. We also post updates on our Facebook page, which we hope you are following.
Exciting Visit from Cameroonian News Reporters!
Medical Missionaries recently hosted a team of news reporters from Cameroon who were impressed by our organization’s work in their country. The reporters aim to share inspiring stories of individuals and organizations helping the poor, motivating others to get involved.
During their visit, Dr. Irwin shared insights into our mission, while Carolyn led a tour of our Manassas office and Barrett Trucking warehouse. We’re thrilled about the potential for future collaboration and appreciate the reporters’ interest in our work. We look forward to seeing the stories they’ll share with their audience.
