Food Donated to Rock Lick Pantry

Rocklick Food Pantry

Medical Missionaries made another delivery of about 3500 pounds of food to the Rocklick Food Pantry in Grundy, VA, located in the poorest county in the state.

The pantry coordinator stated that if Medical Missionaries had not increased deliveries since the pandemic began, Rocklick would have had to shut down operations. Medical Missionaries has provided the bulk of the food donations for the last three months thanks to the many donors here in Northern Virginia.

We would especially like to thank the following individuals and their respective churches/organizations–Diane Stanley/Herndon Women’s Club, Debra Parrish, member of Medical Missionaries Board/Manassas Episcopal Church, and Ann Benkowski/All Saints Catholic Church. We would also like to thank the many individuals like Carolyn Little who bring us food each week. Please keep the donations coming as the need still continues, particularly for the elderly and the sick.

Dr. Irwin dropped off supplies at Kickapoo Reservation.

Kickapoo Indian Reservation

A large shipment of new clothing, school supplies, hygiene kits, and sporting goods (footballs, baseballs, bats, gloves, basketballs, soccer balls etc.) was delivered to the Kickapoo Reservation in northeast Kansas this month. The supplies will be distributed to young people there and on two other reservations in the area.

Local Aid

Local distribution of health care supplies to individuals and assisted living facilities has increased during the pandemic. We were recently able to provide a power wheelchair and other replenishable supplies to a gentleman who became quadriplegic due to a fall. He and his family are so happy to have received the wheelchair and supplies and are thrilled with his newfound independence.

Another local aid story involved a case officer with the Fairfax County Police Department. We were able to give equipment to a client who was involved in a domestic abuse situation. The equipment provided the client with more independence and a safer environment at home.

Medicine delivery for St. Joseph Clinic

St. Joseph Clinic

The shipment of Covid-19 supplies made it to St. Joseph Clinic. Travel to Haiti is still restricted, and the tenure of the new Medical Missionaries Fellows will be deferred till next year.

The local staff has responded well in keeping all of the Clinic programs running, particularly the Maternal and Infant Care and Medika Mamba (combating childhood malnutrition) programs. The Haitians are a tough people who have long endured hardship and the fight for survival.
